Summary
The cat is home but will it live? And if it does survive, at what cost? Xanther's mind bristles with possibilities she knows only as a vast, dangerous forest where she longs to roam. Since that rainy day in May, mysteries keep multiplying. What is this terrible flame that awakens within her whenever she leaves the little one? And why do windows and doors fly open on their own? Xanther's not the only one with questions. Teyo's gone, Luther still hasn't been paid, and who are these young girls emerging from the shadows like specters of tomorrow? In Ohio, Cas and Bobby seek refuge at Sorcerer's place, only to discover the Orb is now afflited with changes defying explanation. All while Astair and Anwar keep struggling with the animal threatening the heart of their home with its obvious warning. Not so obvious is that their daughter is waning too-both parents blind to the hunger Xanther can no more admit than satisfy. Only in Singapore does Jingjing know what to do with the hunger. And so it continues..
