Summary
Tired of covering the dysfunction of Washington and the outrageous antics of President Henry Caine, White House correspondent Sofie Morse quits her job. But then she gets a call from the office of First Lady Lara Caine. Sofie, like the rest of the world, knows little about Lara—only that she was born in Soviet Russia, raised in Paris, and worked as a model before moving to America and marrying the brash future president. When Lara asks Sofie to write her official biography, Sofie’s curiosity gets the better of her. The First Lady spills all about her first and only true love and her father’s work as an undercover KGB officer in Paris—and how he wasn’t the only person in her family living a double life. As Lara’s story unfolds, Sofie is shocked that the First Lady is revealing such sensitive information. Why to her? And why now? Armed with secret that could have explosive ramifications for both the global order and her family's safety, Sofie must weigh the price of betrayal and decide where her loyalties lie.--, Adapted from jacket
