- Summary
- Dr. Carrie Bryant's four years as a neurosurgical resident have earned her the respect and admiration of peers and staff alike. But during her first unsupervised brain surgery, a routine operation turns horribly wrong and jeopardizes her patient's life. Emotionally and physically drained, Carrie is rushed back to the OR to assist in a second surgery. There, she makes a tragic medical error with permanent consequences. With her confidence shattered, Carrie quits her residency and moves back home with her parents and younger brother, Adam, a combat vet suffering from PTSD. An invitation to participate in an experimental program at the VA Medical Center that could cure the ravages of PTSD seems like a way back into medicine. Carrie hopes the new procedure can help returning vets like her brother, and the apparent success of her first surgery promises greater things to come. Hours into his recovery, however, Carrie's patient mysteriously vanishes. When a second patient goes missing, Carrie turns to investigative reporter David Hoffman for help in getting answers. As Carrie and David descend into a labyrinth of murder and corruption, the price Carrie could pay for asking the wrong questions is her life
