Summary

The Bands of Mourning: mythological bracers worn centuries ago by the Lord Ruler--until they were ripped from his body by the Ascendant Warrior, bringing about his death. The Bands were said to hold incredible power, but they were long ago lost to the mists of time. In the Elendel Basin, trouble is brewing. Labor disputes are only the beginning: a greater division has grown between the capital and the other cities of the Basin--cities Elendel claims to lead, while their citizens cry oppression. Amid all of this, word comes to Waxillium Ladrian that the legendary Bands may have been located.
