The United States Coast Guard is our nation's most unique military branch. On any given day, the Coast Guard saves 10 lives, answers 192 calls for help and seizes about ten million in illegal drugs. They also protect our 95,000 miles of coastline and serve overseas to ensure the safety and freedom of others. The Coast Guard and its predecessors have served as an armed force in every conflict since the founding of our republic.
