Summary
Sixteen-year-old Zaine Wyatt has a lot to be angry about. His mother walked out of his life when he was twelve, and he recently was kicked out of his aunt's house. After living on the streets and getting badly beaten up, he is back at Aunt Sarah's place, but he is still angry and uncertain if he has a permanent place to live. When his mother breaks yet another promise to take him back, Zaine flees to an empty art studio used to take refuge in. But it is now just a storage shed. Filled with rage, he trashes it and injures the new owner as he runs away. Facing a possible criminal record, Zaine agrees to participate in a restorative-justice program to try to get the charges dropped. Zaine has to fix the damage he has caused while also helping out both the owner and his disabled grandson. But Zaine's attempts to stay on the right side of the law are challenged by a group of teens who want to recruit him into a gang. Can Zaine complete the restorative-justice program and find people who care about him?
