Summary
By September 1887, the rich farmlands of Dakota Territory had begun to yield the bountiful harvest the pioneers had dreamed about since leaving Norway. With the coming of the railroad, the expanding town of Blessing is finally enjoying a measure of prosperity. Mary Martha MacCallister comes from Missouri to visit her brother and remains until after Christmas. Volunteering at the schoolhouse, she quickly wins the children's affections. And Pastor John Solberg, rejecting the persistent efforts of matchmaking mothers, develops a friendship with Mary Martha and discovers that she shares his love of books and children. When she leaves, they agree to write. Will another wedding ring quilt soon be needed?
