- Summary
- Teresa "Toots" Amelia Loudenberry has crammed a great deal of living--not to mention eight much-loved husbands--into her varied and rewarding life. Now in her golden years, she knows she's supposed to spend her time watching the world go by from the porch of her South Carolina mansion. But just watching has never been Toots's style. She's ready to taste life again. And fate has just handed her the perfect opportunity. It seems the owner of the gossip rag where Toots's daughter works is about to lose the paper to his gambling debts. Eager to find a way to keep her daughter employed among the movers and shakers of Hollywood, Toots decides to pull some strings behind the scenes. But she'll need the help of her three most trusted friends. Toots, Sophie, Mavis, and Ida bonded during their school days, and though circumstances have taken them in wildly different directions, they've stayed close ever since, sharing photos of children and grandchildren, cheering each other on through good times and bad. Together once more, the four will hatch a plan that promises thrills, surprises, laughter, glamour, and more than a hint of danger
