- On June 6, 1984, President Reagan visited a site on the Normandy Coast known as Pointe du Hoc to commemorate the 40th anniversary of D-Day and gave an uplifting speech about the brave men of the elite U.S. Army 2nd Rangers and their scaling of the hundred foot cliff to destroy enemy targets. This tells the story of Reagan's speech and the actual heroic event that took place 40 years earlier
