- Summary
- On the outside, Faith Madison is the very picture of a sophisticated New Yorker. Slim, blond, stylish, Faith has overcome a childhood marked by tragedy, married a successful investment banker, and raised two grown daughters. But she carries within her a secret she can divulge to no one. And with it, she has kept an even more painful secret from herself. At the funeral following the sudden death of her stepfather, Faith reconnects with Brad Patterson, best friend of her now deceased older brother, Jack. When Faith's desire to attend law school conflicts with her husband's wishes, she turns to Brad--a man trapped in an empty marriage of his own--for friendship and support.
